The 17HS1008-01 is a hybrid stepper motor that supports both unipolar and bipolar wiring configurations. These wiring types differ in how the coils are energized and how torque is generated.
This stepper motor includes a total of 6 wires: 4 coil ends and 2 center taps.
Unipolar wiring: All 6 wires are used. Each phase has a center tap, allowing for simpler drive circuits, but typically delivers lower torque.
Bipolar wiring: Only 4 wires are used, leaving the center taps disconnected. This configuration provides higher torque but requires a more advanced driver.
