The extruder tension spring is located in the part that pushes the filament in 3D printers. The filament feeding system consists of a stepper motor, a filament drive gear connected to the stepper motor, and a guide pulley opposite the filament drive gear. The filament is clamped and pushed between the guide pulley and the drive gear. If this clamping is too loose, the filament cannot be pushed properly. If it is too tight, the filament begins to get crushed. The extruder tension spring is used to adjust the clamping between the filament drive gear and the guide pulley.
Note: Springs with 8mm diameter and 22mm length can also be used as 3D printer bed springs.
