This development board, featuring the SIM800L module, allows you to use GSM communication and GPRS features with development boards such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. By using this board, you can send and receive SMS messages, perform location tracking, and even build your own mobile phone. The SIM800L module on the board handles GSM communication and GPRS reception. SIM800L is a miniature cellular module that supports GPRS data transmission, SMS sending and receiving, as well as making and receiving voice calls. Its low cost, compact size, and quad-band frequency support make this module an excellent solution for any project requiring long-range connectivity. Once powered, it searches for the cellular network and automatically registers. The onboard LED indicates the connection status (no network coverage – fast blinking, registered to network – slow blinking).
Important Note: If the SIM module does not respond to AT commands and returns a question mark (?), you can first try communicating at a baud rate of 115200, then reset both the Arduino and the SIM800 module, and continue using it at 9600 baud.
Note: All of our GSM/GPRS shields and modules have BTK-approved and registered IMEI numbers. You can safely use them in your projects.
