    Bamboo Lab AMS - Automated Materials System is a state-of-the-art filament management system designed to improve the performance of your 3D printer. Equipped with advanced features such as RFID technology, humidity sensors and airtight housing, AMS guarantees trouble-free filament feeding, automatic filament switching in the middle of print and optimum print settings. The AMS consists of four filament slots and can be installed in parallel with up to four units providing ample storage and easy access to multiple filaments. This is especially useful when using a snap-on backing or soluble filament, which makes removal of the supports much easier. Each AMS unit comes with four reusable reels (one high temperature reel and three low temperature reels) and is compatible with reels 50-68mm wide and 200mm in diameter. For best performance, we recommend using Bamboo Filament that has been extensively tested and optimized for use with AMS. However, it should be noted that certain materials such as TPE, TPU or moist PVA should be avoided as they can become trapped in AMS. Similarly, the carbon or glass fiber filament can be brittle and break within the AMS or become abrasive and prematurely abrade the internal parts. However, BambuLabs PA-CF and PAHT-CF are designed and tested to be AMS compatible. It is also recommended to avoid the use of cardboard reels with AMS. The rollers inside the AMS control the rotation of the rollers through friction created between the plastic roller edge and the rubber rollers. Cardboard reels provide minimal friction, can tear or bend at the edges and therefore can slip or jam, causing malfunctions or damage to the AMS.
