The NPIC6C595PW is a serial-in, parallel-out (SIPO) shift register IC with open-drain outputs, designed for driving loads such as LEDs, relays, solenoids, and similar devices. Thanks to its integrated power transistors, each output channel provides high current sinking capability.

The IC receives serial data via a single data line and transfers it to eight parallel outputs using a clock signal.
